Brick Daniels: Portraits in Color
Brick Daniels: Portraits in Color
August 3 – September 1, 2018
Opening reception: August 3, 5:00 PM
Portraits in Color is an evolving body of work that focuses on capturing the color and character of artists and performers in the queer community. Using drag as a vehicle to capture hidden personas, these intimate portraits are a result of collaborative and playful studio sessions involving loud music, constant costume changes and lots of wigs.

Together, we create a narrative that brings out the surreal, unique and fantastic characters that lurk beneath the surface of our daily Bloomington lives.

Brick Daniel Kyle is a graphic designer, photographer and digital artist based in Bloomington, Indiana. Since completing his degree in Fine Arts from Indiana University in 2012, he has been working as the graphic designer for The Back Door.  The constant influx of performers and artists has inspired him to pursue photography as a means to explore and reveal the queer community of Bloomington, and the infinitely varied ways in which they perform and present their identities.

Dimensions Gallery is dedicated to showing work from the Greater Bloomington community. We are constantly improving the gallery to change the way we display work to make it easier, safer and cleaner to rotate through the various shows that are planned for this year! This means more shows for our fans and safer and more diverse hanging systems for the artists.

Our primary gallery is located at the center of our 222 W. 2nd Street location and is approximately 600 sq. ft. (15′ x 40′) with 10 ft. tall walls and can accomodate roughly 50-70 people. If you have an interest in showing your work please fill out our Gallery Proposal Form, and we will be in touch.
