Artisan Alley is so proud to announce that we are bringing our Community Markets in 2019! There are a few changes taking place, and we are very excited to make this year’s markets bigger, better, and even more fun.
These markets will take place every Second Saturday of the month from 12pm-6pm, starting on April 13, 2019. Our markets include art vendors, food trucks, live music, lawn games, and a fun activity themed to the month we’re having the markets.
April’s activity is titled Easter Art Hunt. On the night of April 12, our team will be hiding Artisan Alley eggs around the building inside and out. At our Easter Art Hunt, adults and children can hunt for eggs and win prizes!

Artisan Alley is proud to announce that we will be hosting a summer camp all summer for kids aged 5-16!
Recycle the World
The summer camp at Artisan Alley offers a wide range of classes centered around the idea of “Recycle the World.” Over the two weeks, they will create an art project that incorporates this idea and other environmentally-conscious themes while learning a new art medium!
Our age ranges are split into three groups:
The younger kids will be focusing on crafts, while the children in the middle age group will be given projects designed to keep them learning new and interesting things constantly. The older group will be given two week projects that will be presented in a gallery show at the end of the summer sessions!
The dates of these camps are as follows:
June 24-July 5th
These classes take place Monday through Friday from 12 pm- 4 pm and there is half an hour before and after the class allotted for pick up and drop off. If you’re interested in these classes, please fill out this application and you will be contacted by Artisan Alley with the next steps!
Become an Instructor
Artisan Alley is currently looking for instructors to teach these classes. This is a wonderful opportunity, as you have the opportunity to make $400-$600 per session! If you’re interested in teaching one of these sessions, please fill out this application.
Artisan Alley is so excited to announce that we are doing another class with the Pourhouse Cafe!
This Macrame Plant Hanger crafting session is going to be held at the Pourhouse Cafe downstairs in their “Couch Room”. We only have 11 spots for this class, so please make sure you purchase your tickets early! We will be drinking delicious coffee, crafting adorable plant hangers, and socializing in a cozy spot.

On Saturday, February 23, 2019 Artisan Alley will be hosting another Art Happy Hour class! Cardinal Spirits will be hosting this class at 11 am.
In this class, we will be receiving bottles from Cardinal Spirits, and we’re going to paint various designs on them! This class and ticket includes one bottle, one drink, and all the paint supplies. Unleash your inner creativity while learning new things and having delicious drinks with friends! These tickets are $26, to reserve your spot, please click here.
Artisan Alley is so excited to be hosting a class at the Upland Wood Shop where they create their delicious sours. This class is one of our new Art Happy Hour installments and will take place on Thursday, February 21st at 6pm.
This class is crafting a sign out of wood, wire, and nails. In this class, you’ll pick a geometric pattern you’d like to create, hammer nails into your piece of wood to create the design you want, and wrap it with wire. You’ll watch as the design comes to life.
$25 gets you a ticket to the class and one drink courtesy of the Wood Shop. Anything after your one included drink must be put on your own personal tab. There is a tour scheduled at the Wood Shop at 4:30. If you would like to take that tour, the cost is $5 and includes multiple samples for free! Welcome to the new year! We have many exciting announcements for 2019.
Due to our new nonprofit tax status, we are no longer able to have consignment shops. With that being the case, we have updated two of our facilities:
- – Made, the shop in our Dimensions Gallery, is being turned into a classroom. It will be available for rent early in the new year and will cost $10/hour for members and $20/hour for nonmembers.
- – Twisted, our retail store, is closing and will be turned into an art lounge that can be used for everything from hanging out and making art to hosting events and meeting with clients.
Despite the changes, we will continue to display local artwork at these locations, so please submit your pieces!
- – We are having a fundraiser on January 11 at Burl & Ingot. Come bid on art and decide if you want to keep it or take a tool from the rental supply and destroy it!
- – See how much you trust your brain and come to our Blind Contour Drawing at the 3rd street Noodles & Co on January 12. Entry is free, but eating pasta makes it more fun.
- – This summer, we will be hosting an art summer camp for kids aged 5-17. There will be three 2-week sessions starting in June, and we are looking for more teachers. Apply now!
- – Starting April 13, we will be hosting a monthly community market with live music and DJ’s, food trucks, and most importantly, local artists selling their work. Support our local talent!
On January 11 of 2019, we will be hosting a fundraiser at our Burl & Ingot Workshops in order to pay for more tools, resources, and materials for our classes and organization.
Art or Die is an event in which we’ll be displaying abandoned and unloved art and putting it up for auction. Once the piece of art is purchased, the buyer decides whether to keep the art, or destroy it! The buyer can pick a tool of their choice from Burl & Ingot to destroy the artwork with, if they so choose.
This event is completely free, but we ask that you bring cash to make donations with. Parking is on site at 1305 1/2 W 11th St. or at the Pentecostal church next to the property.
‘Tis The Season For Handmade Art!

Artisan Alley is set to be hosting a Holiday Market on two separate weekends surrounding the Holiday season. Walk through our Winter Wonderland and browse handmade art from local Bloomington artists. Complete with a FREE Santa Clause photo opportunity and a FREE ornament crafting workshop, this Holiday Market is sure to delight!
These markets will take place on November 23rd and 24th from 5pm-9pm and December 14th and 15th from 3pm-9pm. The event is completely free to get into and is located at our 222 W 2nd St. location.
